I was said once, "To choose something means to give up something"
I think that it's true. and I thought that I knew it well in my own conceit. Neverthless, I could not kick out my another hope easily yesterday. and it made a trouble. Well, after all, it is quite difficult to give up SOMETHING WE HOPE, isn't it? "Priority", everything is concluded to there. We cannot obtain all we want no matter how much we are struggling. |

µ. Study Abroad
At last, I applied to study abroad like below at 6 o'clock. ¡London University, School of Oriental and African Studies ¢American University £University of Washington ¤University of Toronto ¥University of Queensland Well, I'm wondering what the result is... Anyway, preparing for the selections, I'm gathering pieces of information. ¶. Model United Nations What a shame that Africa-group could not pass their proposal in today's conference! Though I believed that we can go well... At this time, I could not research about the agenda at all. So, I don't have any eligible opinions. But, it's really regrettable. If I had found the evidence of diseconomy of Child Refugees... Well, there's nothing I can do about this now. I'd like to focus on the problem of Children Soldiers. Although these hard days have drained me, I have to do my best. For this weekend. |

I keenly feel that my prospect of study abroad was quite positive.
There are too many things which I should research!! I used to think about only fuculties and programs. Below is my present candidate universities. 1.Tronto University(EX) 2.University of Washington(EX) 3.London University, School of Oriental and African Studies(EX) 4.American University(ISA) 5.Queensland University(TSA) Now, my biggest concern is whether I have enough proficiency in English to study at partner universities. I'm not a returnee. Neither I have studied abroad. Even if I passed selection and went abroad, would I really manage it? Well, anyway, I'm writing the plan of study abroad in both of Japanese and English. |

Because I was busy these days, I idled about my daily things.
And it made a tragity. The most crucial thing was last training camp of Sympo (15,16)... I went to camp without cleaning my room after morning class. Well, the camp was hard as well as usual. As well as last camp of Sympo, I could not go to bed. But, that was ok, yeah, ok. In the afternoon of 2nd day, we made guidelines for applicants. The number of them was nearly 2000. When we finished our work, we found a critical problem. that is... "How should we bring back them?" There were only 25 members. The problem was they could not bring back papers because their bags were already fulfilled. ...I got a forevoding. and a member suggested a horrible solution, "How about do we bring them to tarou's house? It is convinient for using" ......realy? The result is below ![]() ![]() Wow!! How dirty our club room is!!(°ã) It is hard to find, but the middle boxes are all containing guidelines for applicants. Now, there are over 400 guidelines and more than 3000 pieces of handouts. Sigh, I'd like to ask someone, "What is my room?" |

When I'm very tired, I sometimes think it
that is, "If I had not chosen what I'm doing now such as SILS, MUN, and Sympo, what would be my life like?" Well, ofcourse I don't regeret my choices at all, and I keenly feel my choices were correct even now. Neverthless, still, I cannnot stop my stupid delusion. After all, I may not be able to be certain of myself. Perhaps, I'm always afraid of myself. Am I really making progress, though I have made efforts hard (this is just my view)? Can I go abroad for study really? I don't know the answers, well, no. I might not wanna know them. Well, because I don't enough time, that's all today. |

As I wrote yesterday, now I'm wondering about what university I should go on.
For now, my priorities are like below. 1. English countries 2. Whether I can study what I wanna study 3. Exchange Programme 4. Cost 5. TOEFL score (6. MUN lol) 1. The biggest reason is that I'm not sure to go well in both areas of study and daily life. Even in English, I have many troubles in study and communication. So, I don't wanna even imagine to use ANOTHER language for study abroad. Therefore, candidate countries are US, UK, Canada, Australia, Singapore. 2. This is also important for me. As long as I get a rare chance to study abroad, I wish to study what I wanna study. Now, what I'd like to study are Development Cooperation, International Relations, Educational Development, and Economic Development. 3. The reason is simple, other programmes are too expensive for me!! 4. It's impossible such as 15,000$ or 20,000$ programme fee!! 5. My final score is 237 in CBT. So I can choose university in a certain free extent .I don't care about the number of Japanese students so much, though the smaller the number is, the better it is for me. Thinking of all conditions, the candidate universities are ¡Singapore Management University, ¢The University of Toronto, £The University of Washington¡ÊSeattle), ¤University of Newcastle upon Tyne, ¥McGill University, ¦Lewis & Clark College, §Royal Holloway, University of London, ¨Furman University, ©The University of Edinburgh, ªUniversity of London, School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS), «The University of Calgary, ¬York University .....Too much ![]() ![]() ![]() Gosh, will I have to check all of these universities? It'll a really dull work('§¥';) |

Today, I was concerned about it.
The reason why I cared such thing is that I had a lecture in University. Although it seemed a very famous person that made the lecture(I heard he is the authority of peace study), the lecture was dull(¶ì¾Ð¤¤) Maybe, the reason is that his lecture was external because he didn't have enough time. But, one thing that he said scratched my mind. He insisted that The Government of Japan should reconcile with east Asian countries like China and South Korea, and promote the framework of East Asian Community. And he also said that not governments but civil society is important in the process of reconcillation. He showed quite optimistic view about that comparing with the example of reconcillation between Germany and other countries like France and Belgium. However, I don't think that reconcillation between Japan and neighbor countries will go well easily. The biggest reason is that each present public opinion is inclining to negative one rather than friendly one. It is clear if you see the result of polls. Each country seems to be very stubborn in own history or own view of territorial problems or trivial national benefits despite that there will be a large benefit if they overcome those problems. So, the main reason why each country shows such attitudes is, I guess, Globalization. Globalization have brought them many many things including both of benefits and damages. This is just my view, but is the problem unevern distribution of benefits and damages of globalization? In Japan, big companies such as Toyota and Canon got large benefits of globalization. On the other hand, medium-sized and small companies are suffering because of competition with developing countries such as China and Thailand. In South Korea, big comanies like Samsung and LG Electronics have developed into multinational companies know to worldwide. However, the total economy of Korea are struggling to develop into so-called that of advanced countries. In China, people who live in coast areas got enormous benefits of globalization with huge investment from all over the world. But on the other hand, poverty gap are more and more expanding increasingly. Some people in China live as well as people in developed countries, other people in China live as well as people in Least developing countries. Generally speaking, strong people are getting more strong, and weak people are getting less strong. Ofcourse, the number of "loser" is much bigger than that of "winner". The "losers" who lost or cannno get something important want SOMETHING to preserve their identities. I guess that the SOMETHING is nationality. The "losers" don't wanna lose anything, so nationalism gets more remakable. And don't remember the public opinion is formed by majority of society, in brief, "losers". Well, now I'm not sure whether my logic is consistent or not (¶ì¾Ð) Anyway, what I wanted to say is that reconsillation between Japan and other countries is difficult unless each countries solve their internai problems which are caused by globalization. That's all!! Thank you for reading!! |
